Terms of Service

1. Service Description

CitedRank ("the Service") is a web-based Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that analyzes websites for generative engine optimization (GEO). The Service scans your website pages, generates citability scores, and provides actionable recommendations to improve your visibility in AI-generated answers.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Account Responsibilities

  • You must provide a valid email address and create a secure password (minimum 8 characters).
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You must promptly notify us of any unauthorized access to your account.
  • You must be at least 18 years old or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction.
  • One person or legal entity may maintain only one account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only to:

  • Scan and analyze domains that you own or have explicit authorization to scan.
  • Use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

You must not:

  • Scan domains you do not own or do not have authorization to analyze.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service.
  • Use the Service to conduct any form of attack, unauthorized scanning, or data scraping of third-party websites.
  • Circumvent any rate limits, access controls, or security measures.
  • Use automated tools to access the Service outside of the provided API and user interface.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its outputs without written permission.

4. Subscription and Billing

  • The Service operates on a subscription basis. The current Starter plan is priced at EUR 10 per month.
  • Payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your payment card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled before the renewal date.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' advance notice. Existing subscriptions will be honored at their current rate until the next renewal.
  • All prices are in Euros (EUR) and exclusive of applicable VAT, which will be added where required by law.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at support@citedrank.com for refund requests.

5. Intellectual Property

  • The Service, including its algorithms, scoring methodology, user interface, and documentation, is owned by CitedRank and protected by intellectual property laws.
  • You retain ownership of all content you submit (domain data, website content).
  • You grant us a limited license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
  • Scan results, scores, and recommendations generated by the Service are provided to you for your internal use. You may share them with your team and service providers.

6. Data Protection

We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms. Please review the Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your data.

7. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability of the Service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime in advance.

8. Limitation of Liability

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
  • We do not warrant that scan results or recommendations will achieve any specific improvement in AI visibility or search engine rankings.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, data loss, or business interruption.

9. Termination

  • You may terminate your account at any time by using the "Delete Account" feature in your account settings or by contacting us at support@citedrank.com.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with notice where practicable.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • Before deleting your account, you may export your data using the data export feature (GDPR data portability).

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict of law provisions and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).

The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be Berlin, Germany, to the extent permitted by law.

The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither obligated nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that most closely approximates the intent and economic effect of the original.
